AUDIT REPORT

An Audit Report is a report prepared by the government audit department after examining a Panchayat's financial transactions, income and expenditure accounts, and the implementation of development projects.

An Audit Report Usually Includes:

  • Verification of income and expenditure
  • Errors or discrepancies in accounts
  • Violations of rules and regulations
  • Unnecessary or excessive expenditures
  • Deficiencies in tax collection
  • Irregularities in project implementation
  • Recommendations for corrective action

Objectives of an Audit Report:

  • To ensure financial transparency in the Panchayat
  • To identify corruption, misuse of funds, or accounting errors
  • To ensure proper financial management and control

In Kerala, Panchayat audits are generally conducted by the Local Fund Audit Department or other relevant government audit authorities.
