AUDIT REPORT
An Audit Report is a report prepared by the government audit department after examining a Panchayat's financial transactions, income and expenditure accounts, and the implementation of development projects.
An Audit Report Usually Includes:
- Verification of income and expenditure
- Errors or discrepancies in accounts
- Violations of rules and regulations
- Unnecessary or excessive expenditures
- Deficiencies in tax collection
- Irregularities in project implementation
- Recommendations for corrective action
Objectives of an Audit Report:
- To ensure financial transparency in the Panchayat
- To identify corruption, misuse of funds, or accounting errors
- To ensure proper financial management and control
In Kerala, Panchayat audits are generally conducted by the Local Fund Audit Department or other relevant government audit authorities.
